Seeking God’s Protection

I feel you all around me,
I dare not take a step,
I am afraid you will see me,
Oh depression of death.

From the bottom of my heart,
And deep in my soul,
I will pray you away,
My friend of old.

Some days are paralyzing,
Filled with salty tears,
Some days drag slow,
As you play on my fears.

For there is One I can seek,
Who will give me rest,
It’s my Lord and Savior,
He gives me His best.

So I hunker down,
Under His protection,
Until this darkness goes away,
One of oppression.
