Bandage For The Beast

Paralyzing fear,
Staring at the bottle,
The one to prevent,
The crazy that simmers inside.

Panic, anxiety,
Filling my brain,
Will this give?
Will this take away?

I feel deeply,
With empathy,
Much compassion,
I don’t want to be numb.

They say, I will be okay,
They say, it will be fine.

I open it up,
Swallow it down,
Nauseated at what I’ve done,
Anticipation.

The magic bottle,
Not a cure,
Just a bandage,
For the beast inside.
