Sometimes I Forget

Walking down a temporal road,
Walking away from my safe place,
Seeking the next pleasurable thrill,
Hearing the world call my name.

Sweetness of Your tender mercies,
Why am I so flippant about this?
Your grace should be enough,
Yet, it is You I will test.

Sometimes, I don’t want to be faithful,
Sometimes, I just want to go my own way,
Sometimes, I feel like I need more freedom,
Sometimes, I forget all I need is You.

Down in the pit of the mess,
The mess that I created,
Trying to live without regret,
But it makes me unstable.

Ring, ring, You are calling me back,
I ignore You, swiping left,
Thinking I know what is best,
Until I fall so hard down…

Sometimes, I don’t want to be faithful,
Sometimes, I just want to go my own way,
Sometimes, I feel like I need more freedom,
Sometimes, I forget all I need is You.

You should be my all,
And You let me fall,
Waiting in the light,
For me to come back.

I am hiding in my own shadows,
Allowing the enemy to take hold,
I am too ashamed to pray,
Sometimes, I forget
That You will always be there for me…
Sometimes, I forget,
You will never betray me…

Sometimes, I don’t want to be faithful,
Sometimes, I just want to go my own way,
Sometimes, I feel like I need more freedom,
Sometimes, I forget all I need is You.
