The Widower

As they sat on the tailgate of his truck,
A falling star shoots across the sky,
And a special song plays,
One he knows well…

He bows his head and begins to weep,
as she rubs his back to comfort him.

When he raises his head,

She looks deep into his tearnstained eyes,
And says…

You can’t have been with someone for so long,

And not have their footprint stamped in your life,

For it won’t fade away as if it was made in the sand,

And I pray you find someone who will accept that.

He hugged her tight.
