Pray For The Abused

Drifting in and out,
I just can’t sit here and watch,
She’s a ticking time bomb,
That’s about to go off.

I hold her hand so softly,
And listen to her cries,
I softly speak calming words,
And wipe the tears from her eyes.

Once a vibrant beauty,
No all hunched down and low,
She can’t tell me what happened,
Her speech is broken and slow.

What words I could graps,
Told a story all too grave,
How he once pampered her,
And then tried to make her his slave.

As if she wasn’t enough,
He went out on her and played,
All the while she worked at home,
The only place she was allowed to stay.

Her family all to distant,
He held them far away,
She felt so much fear,
Should didn’t know what to say.

Alone in cold and darkness,
She summoned the courage-just enough,
She left all she had to flee,
And here she ended up.

I wish there was a happy ending,
To this nice and tidy poem,
Please pray against domestic violence,
And to bring all those abused safely home.
