The Demons Sing To Me

The music is playing,
No radio in sight,
I sit here unplugged,
Waiting on the night.

It’s the demons singing,
A chanting sort of tune,
I know those voices,
They will be here soon.

I don my armour,
But it is too late,
The have come to haunt me,
In my weary state.

They have fire on their lips,
I can smell their burning flesh,
Lord keep me from their reach,
From their web made of mesh.

I am reaching to You now,
This fight I cannot win,
They’re starting a war,
For me to commit sin.

Their songs of temptation,
Now drumming loud in my ears,
Talking up fantasies,
And using my fears.

They say take these gifts,
This will help you out,
But my brain still keeps churning,
Trying to renounce doubt.

Just come with us,
We’ll show you the way,
The demons are persistent,
With me they want to play.

They continually call,
Using a stream of sweet lies,
Taunting with fake promises,
That they hide in disguise.

I become so numb,
Wanting to feel joy even pain,
I try to drown them out,
Their music makes me wane.

They have fire on their lips,
I can smell their burning flesh,
Lord keep me from their reach,
From their web made of mesh.

I am reaching to You now,
This fight I cannot win,
They’re starting a war,
For me to commit sin.
