The Bride

Happy for the day, she didn’t want to end,
He proposed and she said yes.
All the planning, preparing,
And shopping for her dress.

This won’t be her first walk,
Down the glorious aisle,
She sat to think,
For a long, long while.

She took a deep breath,
As she pondered his name,
Her first true love,
Who had passed away.

He was sick with disease,
Nothing they could do,
He declined quickly,
And she was left all blue.

His favorite color was the ocean,
And she placed a teal ribbon in her hair,
Her new love is supportive,
He will know why it’s there.

She thanked the Lord for His blessings,
And for her new love,
For all the healing,
And her dress as white as a dove.

The women came in,
To help her get ready,
Time for a new life ahead,
Slow and steady.
